Algeria joins BRICS-led New Development Bank to boost global role

The announcement was made by the bank’s director Dilma Rousseff, who said Algeria’s membership would boost the institution’s role on the global financial stage.
Algeria has officially joined the New Development Bank (NDB) as a full member, marking a key step in its engagement with the BRICS economic bloc.
The announcement was made by the bank’s director Dilma Rousseff, who said Algeria’s membership would boost the institution’s role on the global financial stage.
"Algeria plays an important role not only in the economy of Northern Africa, but also at a global scale, and will definitely contribute to enhancing NDB’s position in the global financial arena," she said.
The NDB was created to mobilize resources for infrastructure and sustainable development projects. It also serves as a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among its member countries, according to the bank’s leadership.
In a statement, the bank noted that Algeria’s inclusion is in line with its strategy to expand membership and strengthen its position as a major financial institution supporting emerging market economies and developing nations.
