Day, the former world number one, has been known in the past for his expressive dressing choices during tournaments.

Australian Jason Day admits that he has been asked to tone down on his dressing during this year's Masters tournament at Augusta.

Day, the former world number one, has been known in the past for his expressive dressing choices during tournaments.

Day, who left Nike in early 2024 to join Malbon Golf, had what he described as interesting outfits ready for the year's first major at Augusta but has since been forced to make changes.

"We kind of did (made changes), but we kind of cut everything in half. With what we're supposed to wear, they said that's a little bit much, but that's okay," Day, 37, told reporters after a nine-hole practice round with fellow Australians Min Woo Lee and Cameron Smith at Augusta.

He further explained that tournament organisers had requested him to send his week's attire in for advance vetting as they foresaw a challenging situation ahead.

"We had to send it in. I think I'm on the shortlist of guys that have to send their scripting in now. I get it. It was a little bit much on Thursday," he said.

At the 2024 Masters, Day wore baggy blue pants and a loud sweater vest that featured the writing "No. 313. Malbon Golf Championship" in large block letters across the front when he showed up on the Friday to complete his first round.

However, in a different twist, when the 2015 PGA Championship winner showed up for the second round later that day, the vest was gone, and he later said tournament organisers had asked him to remove the piece of clothing.

Day is currently ranked 36 in the world.

Golf Courses are usually rule based and usually stick to a strict code of conduct.  Some of the rules prevent the use of mobile phones on the gold green and a strict adherence to dressing code for golfers.
