Authorities in Molo, Nakuru County, are investigating a shocking case of matricide after a 16-year-old boy confessed to murdering his mother inside their home in the Nyakiambi area.

According to a police report filed at Elburgon Police Station, the chilling discovery was made on Sunday after the deceased’s brother alerted officers, claiming his sister had been killed inside her house.

Law enforcement officers from Elburgon and detectives from the Molo Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) swiftly responded to the distress call. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of a middle-aged woman sprawled inside her residence.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect, identified only by the initials AG, had dropped out of school while in Form Three.

The teen reportedly admitted to attacking and fatally injuring his mother on Friday, July 25, during a heated confrontation that turned deadly.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. that day, AG is said to have confronted his mother, demanding she disclose the identity of his biological father.

When she declined to respond, the minor allegedly flew into a rage and struck her multiple times on the head, leading to her immediate death.

Further details indicate that the boy attempted to cover up the crime. On Saturday, July 26, he reportedly dug a shallow grave in an adjacent house within the compound, allegedly intending to secretly bury the body early Sunday morning before being discovered.

The minor was arrested on Sunday by police officers, bringing the grim plan to an abrupt halt. The body of the deceased was transferred to the Elburgon Level IV Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to establish whether the minor acted alone and to determine his mental state at the time of the incident.

The case has left the local community in disbelief, with many struggling to come to terms with the tragic turn of events in a household that had shown no outward signs of distress.
