Turkana County Official Arrested For Forging Degree Certificate

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a senior Turkana County official for using a forged degree certificate to secure a job in 2018.

Investigations revealed that Charles Ekai Erukundi faked a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree to land the role of Deputy Director, Resource Mobilization at Turkana County Government.

Arraigned at Lodwar Magistrate Court, he pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery, uttering a false document, and fraudulently obtaining 3.9 million shilings in salary from December 2018 to May 2021.

Lodwar Senior Principal Magistrate Evanson Ngigi, , granted him a Kes 500,000 cash bail. The case is set for mention on March 18, 2025.

This comes after the commission arrested Huruma Ward (Nairobi) MCA Peter Owera Oluoch on Monday, March 3 2025, for allegedly being involved in forgery and providing false information.

EACC said Owera had claimed to hold a Diploma from Kenya Polytechnic, but an independent investigation revealed that he had never been a student at the institution.

Oluoch was arraigned in court and released on a Sh100, 000 cash bail after denying allegations of forgery and providing false information to EACC officials.
