Shipping firm Maersk has appointed Tito Okuku as the Managing Director for East Africa, entrusting him with overseeing the company’s operations throughout the region, including Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Okuku, previously the Managing Director at APM Terminal Kenya (Great Lake Ports), brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in logistics and supply chain management, having effectively managed teams and operations across several African countries.

His extensive experience, deep understanding of the region, and commitment to nurturing talent make him the ideal leader to foster sustainable growth and consistently deliver value to our customers," stated Richard Morgan, Managing Director of Maersk – Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa.

He further remarked, "We are confident that under Tito’s guidance, Maersk will strengthen its footprint and partnerships across East Africa."

Maersk highlighted that Okuku’s prior role as Managing Director of APM Terminals Kenya (Great Lakes Ports) has given him strong familiarity with the Maersk ecosystem.

His return to the company reflects Maersk’s dedication to robust local leadership, deep market insight, and a focus on customer-driven innovation.

Tito Okuku is a well-known leader in logistics and supply chain management. Before his current role as Managing Director at Maersk, he served as Managing Director for East Africa at DHL Supply Chain.

During his time at DHL, he played a key role in improving logistics and supply chain operations across the region.

Before joining DHL, Okuku was Managing Director of Great Lakes Ports Limited in 2014, linked to APM Terminals Kenya.

In this role, he prioritized enhancing operational safety and efficiency in port logistics, highlighting the need for a clear vision among driver partners to guarantee the safe and timely delivery of customer cargo.

These leadership experiences reflect Okuku’s deep expertise in logistics and supply chain management, making him well-equipped for his current position at Maersk.

His appointment as Managing Director for Maersk East Africa took effect on 5 May 2025.
