TSC announces 24,000 junior school teacher internship vacancies

The vacancies are open to Kenyan citizens with at least a diploma in education, a mean grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), and a C+ in two teaching subjects. Applicants must also be registered with TSC.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 24,000 internship positions for junior school teachers to boost the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Applications will be submitted online through the TSC career portal by midnight on September 9, 2025.
The vacancies are open to Kenyan citizens with at least a diploma in education, a mean grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), and a C+ in two teaching subjects. Applicants must also be registered with TSC.
“The Teacher Internship Programme is a one-year programme meant to equip and sustain competencies of persons entering the teaching service,” TSC stated. The programme targets unemployed, registered teachers who will gain practical experience through mentorship, coaching, and exposure in schools.
Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Sh20,000, subject to statutory deductions. Interns will be posted to junior schools within the sub-county of their interview or any part of the county with vacancies.
The Commission emphasised that manual applications will not be accepted and that the selection will be based strictly on merit and county vacancy allocations.
Applicants must also be unemployed, have no disciplinary record with TSC, and possess a personal accident insurance cover for the internship period.
Those shortlisted will be required to present original academic and professional certificates, national ID or passport, teacher registration proof, KRA PIN, and two passport-size photos.
Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply, and details of available vacancies per county are available on the TSC website.
TSC warned against fraud, stating, “The recruitment exercise is free of charge.” Any fraudulent activities should be reported to the nearest TSC office, police station, or through official TSC contacts.
The application portal will be open from August 26 to September 9, 2025.
