The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced a competitive recruitment process to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), KUCCPS Grade 1, as part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s leadership and service delivery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for steering the organization’s day-to-day operations, implementing board policies, and overseeing the coordination of student placement in universities and colleges across the country.
KUCCPS was established under Section 55 of the Universities Act, 2012.
Its core functions include coordinating the placement of government-sponsored students into universities and colleges, disseminating information on available programmes and their costs, advising the government on placement matters, collecting and managing placement data, and developing career guidance programmes for students.
The CEO will serve as the accounting officer and secretary to the board and will play a critical role in driving the organization’s strategic direction.
The role involves developing long-term strategies and annual operating budgets, ensuring prudent management of resources, spearheading the implementation of performance contracts, and overseeing the development and compliance of internal systems and controls.
Other key responsibilities include facilitating communication between the board and management, advising the board on policy and strategic issues, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, nurturing a highly skilled workforce, managing stakeholders, and safeguarding institutional assets.
The CEO will also oversee budget preparation and work plans, promote the organization’s image, and ensure effective dissemination of information on academic programmes.
To qualify, applicants must have at least fifteen years of cumulative work experience, with a minimum of five years in a senior management position.
They must hold a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from recognized institutions, have completed a leadership course of not less than four weeks, and be members in good standing of relevant professional bodies where applicable.
Candidates are also required to demonstrate outstanding managerial and professional competence, be proficient in computer applications, and meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
The successful candidate will be appointed for a renewable five-year term, subject to performance and retirement regulations. Remuneration will be determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
