Comedian Kansiime to headline Uganda’s first-ever comedy roast show

The show will be performed primarily in English, with some parts in Luganda, and is strictly for adults aged 18 and above.
Ugandan comedy queen Anne Kansiime is set to make history as the headliner of the country's first-ever professional comedy roast show, The Comedy Grill of Anne Kansiime.
The highly anticipated event will take place on May 9, 2025, at the Sheraton Gardens in Kampala.
Originally scheduled for May 10, the date was moved up by a day, though organizers have not revealed the reason for the change.
The show promises an evening of witty banter, sharp jokes, and good-humored roasting as Kansiime becomes the target of light-hearted mockery from some of Uganda’s most prominent public figures.
The lineup of "Grill Chefs" includes former minister and women’s rights advocate Miria Matembe, media personalities Sheila Gashumba, Gaetano Kaggwa, and Prim Asiimwe, as well as celebrated artists GNL Zamba and Nana Kagga.
Fellow comedians Salvado, Madrat, Chico, and Omara Daniel will also take part, along with Kansiime’s estranged partner, musician Abraham Tukahiirwa, popularly known as Skylanta.
The show will be hosted by well-known media figures Tuwangye Richard and Deedan Muyiira. Kansiime emphasized that although the roast will feature edgy humor, it will remain respectful and entertaining.
The show will be performed primarily in English, with some parts in Luganda, and is strictly for adults aged 18 and above.
The writing team behind the roast includes talented comedians Dr. Hillary Okello and Ehmah Napoleon, who are expected to deliver well-crafted, impactful performances.
Early bird tickets are currently on sale for UGX 80,000 until May 6, after which the price will rise to UGX 100,000.
VIP Gold and Platinum tables, each seating eight guests, are available for UGX 3 million and UGX 5 million, respectively.
Tickets can be purchased via MTN’s mobile platform or through the Talent Africa Group website.
