Tanzanian singer Zuchu has publicly addressed the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over unpaid performance fees for her appearance at the CHAN 2025 final held in Nairobi on August 30, 2025.
In a statement shared on her official Instagram account, Zuchu expressed her frustration, stating, “I am writing to express my concern and frustration regarding the outstanding payment for my recent performance in Nairobi on August 30, 2025” .
According to Zuchu, her management team had been in regular communication with LEAP Creative Agency, the company responsible for organizing the event on behalf of CAF. Despite repeated follow-ups and assurances, the agreed-upon payment remains unsettled.
She further questioned the authenticity of the proof-of-payment documents shared by the agency, calling them unverifiable and suspicious.
Zuchu revealed that she had interacted with other artists who performed at the CHAN final, including Kenyan singer Savara, who's team also confirmed that they hadn't received their agreed payments in full.
This shared experience underscores a wider issue affecting performers at high-profile events and highlights the need for better accountability and timely remuneration.
Zuchu emphasized that she had turned down other performance opportunities to honor her commitment to the CHAN final, making the delay in payment particularly disappointing.
She warned that if the balance is not settled promptly, her team may pursue legal action to recover the funds.
The public post has generated significant attention across social media platforms with fans expressing support for the singer and highlighting broader concerns over the treatment of artists at major international sporting events.
Many have called on CAF and associated organizers to ensure that contractual obligations are honored promptly to maintain trust and professionalism in such high-profile events.
