In Summary

In a match played behind closed doors at a gloomy Ulinzi ground, the Sudanese side took the initiative with an early goal that will ensure they carry a healthy lead back home ahead of the second leg clash next week in Omdurman.

Kenya Police FC suffered an agonising and frustrating 1-0 defeat to Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman in the first leg of their second round clash at the Ulinzi Stadium in Nairobi, Friday 17 October 2025.

In a match played behind closed doors at a gloomy Ulinzi ground, the Sudanese side took the initiative with an early goal that will ensure they carry a healthy lead back home ahead of the second leg clash next week in Omdurman.

Adama Coulibaly was the hero for the visitors, converting on 20 minutes for the only goal of the match.

Police tried their best to open up their opponents at a soulless Ulinzi ground but their experienced counterparts were able to thwart every threat thrown their way by their subdued home side.

The match will be a sorry loss for Police, who were forced to play behind closed doors following the movement of the match venue from the Nyayo National Stadium to Ulinzi because of the final funeral rights of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who died Wednesday.

The public viewing of the body was put at Nyayo today by the government, forcing Police to seek an alternative venue.

The return leg will be played next Saturday in Sudan, with Police needing to win to have any chance of qualifying for the money spinning group stages where each team makes at least USD 750,000 each for qualification.
