Nairobi hosted the inaugural PUBG Mobile Africa Cup (PMAC) 2025 at Charter Hall on September 13–14 September, with XForce Rejects emerging as champions after a two-day battle featuring 16 of the continent’s top esports squads.
The tournament, organised by PUBG Mobile in partnership with smartphone maker Infinix, drew teams from across sub-Saharan Africa after months of qualifiers.
With a total prize pool of US$8,000 (1.03 million) and a direct qualification pathway to the prestigious PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC), the competition marked a milestone for African esports.
XForce Rejects of South Africa secured first place with 158 points, followed by Uganda’s Rejects X on 101 points, and Nigeria’s RRage Astranova in third with 100 points.
Twelve Esports, also from South Africa, rounded out the top four with 78 points.
Kenyan squads made their mark in the finals, with Team Execute dominating Day 1 by securing multiple victories, while Rescue Esports took a win on Erangel.
For organisers, the event demonstrated Nairobi’s growing reputation as a hub for esports.
The live finals brought together players, fans and sponsors, showcasing both competitive talent and Kenya’s capacity to stage large-scale gaming events.
Attendance at Charter Hall drew a mix of fans, sponsors and industry stakeholders, with live audiences complemented by online streaming across multiple platforms.
Organisers noted that the turnout reflected growing interest in competitive gaming across the continent, while also providing an opportunity for players to showcase their skills to potential scouts and sponsors.
The choice of Infinix’s GT 30 Pro as the official tournament device highlighted the increasing role of technology brands in supporting esports growth across Africa. According to organisers, the partnership underscored how reliable hardware and sponsorships are shaping competitive mobile gaming.
The PUBG Mobile Africa Cup concluded with Africa’s top teams now set to prepare for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship, where they will compete against leading squads from other regions.
