According to the party, Orwoba’s actions suggested loyalty to another political group.

Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has been summoned by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) disciplinary committee over conduct the party says goes against its values and Code of Conduct.

The party pointed to her attendance at former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s welcoming at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and his homecoming event at Gusii Stadium as a key reason for the summons.

In a statement signed by disciplinary committee chairperson Charles Njenga, UDA also raised concern over Orwoba’s remarks during an April 22, 2025, interview on Spice FM, where she criticised the labour mobility program.

The party described this as an attack on a major government policy under President William Ruto.

According to the party, Orwoba’s actions suggested loyalty to another political group and went against the expectations of a nominated senator representing UDA.

"Your participation and utterances in the above stated events clearly demonstrates instances and proof of allegiance to another political movement, conduct unbecoming and disloyalty to the United Democratic Alliance Party (hereafter the party) and which nominated you to the office and position of Senator in the Senate of the Republic of Kenya," read the statement.

The disciplinary committee has asked her to appear before it on Friday, May 16, at 9:00 am at Hustler Plaza, Fourth Floor Board Room.

She is expected to respond to the issues raised and explain why the party should not take disciplinary steps against her.

"Kindly note that if the Committee finds you liable, it shall forthwith remit its decision to the National Executive Committee of the party for further action, including the implementation and execution thereof," the committee warned.
