PS Omollo rallies Kenyans to register for SHA

Omollo said the SHA has already helped many vulnerable families receive care at minimal cost, replacing the NHIF, which he said largely benefited the formally employed.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has called on Kenyans to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) to access affordable and inclusive medical services.
Speaking at Kendu Adventist Hospital in Karachuonyo during its centenary celebration, Omollo said the SHA has already helped many vulnerable families receive care at minimal cost, replacing the NHIF, which he said largely benefited the formally employed.
Omollo emphasized that initial doubts about the programme have faded and urged those yet to enroll to take advantage of the opportunity.
He revealed that only 44% of Homa Bay’s population is registered and appealed to county officials to collaborate with community health workers to boost numbers.
Joined by four other principal secretaries Ouma Oluga (Medical Services), Mary Muthoni (Public Health), Boniface Makokha (Economic Planning), and Kipronoh Rono (Agriculture) Omollo affirmed the government’s commitment to delivering universal healthcare.
Oluga noted that over Sh20 billion has been allocated to SHA to shield citizens from high medical costs, while local leaders encouraged residents to embrace state-led development programmes for better living standards.
