Ministry announces posting of 6,484 health interns including 500 pharmacists

The Ministry of Health has initiated the deployment of 6,484 healthcare interns for the 2025/2026 cohort, scheduled to commence by July 1st.
In a statement released on Friday, June 27, Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale emphasized the Ministry's dedication to strengthening Kenya's health system through practical training and professional development.
The interns will undergo a 12-month structured programme at accredited centres, aimed at providing essential clinical training in real healthcare settings.
The diverse cohort includes 1,147 medical officer interns, 87 dentist interns, 500 pharmacist interns, 659 BSc clinical officer interns, 1,993 clinical officer interns with diplomas, and 2,098 BSc nursing officer interns.
This distribution reflects the Ministry's strategy to meet various healthcare needs effectively.
All eligible pre-interns are required to collect their posting letters on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Ministry of Health Headquarters, Afya House, Nairobi. The issuance of letters will strictly require a valid National Identity Card for verification.
This initiative is anticipated to enhance healthcare delivery across Kenya, ensuring that hospitals and clinics are adequately staffed with competent professionals prepared to serve the public.
