The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has unveiled an elaborate programme of activities to mark its 20th anniversary, popularly dubbed ODM@20.

This follows a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Nairobi on Thursday, chaired by the party’s National Chairperson, Governor Gladys Wanga.

According to the NEC, the official celebrations will be staged in Mombasa and Kilifi counties and will feature a rich line-up of political, cultural and community-driven activities.

The three-day fete, set for October 10–12, marks what is termed is described as the "rebirth of ODM" ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Among the highlights are a four-team football knockout tournament involving AFC Leopards SC, Bandari FC, Gor Mahia FC and Shabana FC, a Youth Summit bringing together young leaders, a Women’s Convention spotlighting the role of women in democracy and a PwD Breakfast focused on inclusion and empowerment.

The programme will also include a Roll of Honour for fallen heroes, remembrance of martyrs of the democratic struggle, a four-day free medical camp for the community and an Inter-religious Prayers Day to unite Kenyans in thanksgiving and reflection.

In the build-up to the main festivities, ODM will host regional events in Wajir Town on September 20 and Kisii Town on September 26. These events, the party said, are aimed at rallying members nationwide in anticipation of the milestone celebrations.

The NEC also received updates on ongoing grassroots elections and praised the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) for effectively steering the process.

In addition, the meeting discussed upcoming by-elections, expressing confidence that ODM is well-prepared to field strong candidates and secure victories.

“This event will also be bringing together the founding members of this party. We are going to be very pleased that this is going to be a reunion of those who began ODM and still exist,” ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga said on September 15, 2025.
