President William Ruto has issued a public apology to Tanzania and to the younger generation of Kenyans during the National Prayer Breakfast held in Nairobi on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, Ruto responded to a call for reconciliation made by visiting American preacher Rickey Allen Bolden.
He extended a message of peace to Kenya’s neighbours and youth, following recent diplomatic and public tensions.
Kenya will not default on its foreign obligations, President Ruto assures, while citing stable exchange reserves.
The DP draws laughs from the audience after commenting on MPs' singing.
Kithure Kindiki: "This year's choir performed much better — last year's was quite chaotic."
The DP was referring to a long tradition of inviting MPs on stage during the prayer breakfast to sing a hymn.
"Osoro and company, pongezi!" Kindiki said.
Translation: "Osoro and company, congratulations."

Dr. Rickey Bolden: "Wouldn’t it be beautiful if the leaders said to the Gen Z- 'We had you arrested, and we are sorry."'
Bolden calls for Kenya not ignore ignore the Gen Zs in the country.
Bolden: "Some of our Gen Zs are smarter than we are! I have a daughter, she's a doctor; whenever I need advice for my health, I don't go to a hospital, I call my daughter."
Bolden: "My politics never drives my faith. My faith always drives my politics. There is no room for disrespect when you follow Jesus. One must be intentional when building relationships with one another."
Former NFL star and renowned American pastor Rickey Allen Bolden, who has graced the prayer breakfast, says it is "a joy to be here."
"We are coming home to see our brothers and our sisters; we are coming home to walk on lands that our ancestors walked on; we are coming home to swim in streams and lakes that our ancestors swam in. It is a joy to be here," says Bolden.
"We have left our young people in helplessness; in gambling, in pornography"-Dagorreti North MP Beatrice Elachi, prayers for Kenya during the Annual National Prayer Breakfast.
"Our youth are hopeless, and we pray that the spirit of social media running our country is sorted out. May we stand for what is best for our country and future generations," her prayer continued.
"May this continent rise and rebuild politically," Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana says in his prayer for Africa.
