Six arrested in Kitale crime raid, crude weapons recovered

Police officers in Kitale town, Trans Nzoia County, have arrested six suspects today morning and recovered stolen electronics, illicit brew, and crude weapons in a targeted dawn operation in Burma Slums in a bid to fight against crime within the region.

In a statement posted on its official social media handle, the National Police Service confirmed that the early morning raid targeted the Burma Slums in Kitale Town, an area that has long been on the police radar for criminal activity.

“In a targeted security operation carried out in the early hours of this morning in the Burma Slums in Kitale Town, police officers successfully apprehended six suspects believed to be involved in a range of criminal activities,” the statement said.

Authorities confirmed that the six suspects arrested during the raid are currently being held at the local police station as investigations continue.

“The suspects are being held in custody pending processing and arraignment in court, while the recovered evidence has been secured at the station,” the statement noted.

The NPS assured the public that due process will be followed and the suspects will face charges once the investigations are finalized.

According to the Service, this operation is part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown designed to suppress criminal activity, safeguard communities, and dismantle gangs operating in urban and rural areas.
