Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged leaders to avoid early political confrontations, stressing that the priority should be on advancing development projects across Tharaka Nithi County.
He described premature politicking as a distraction that wastes time and slows progress, highlighting ongoing initiatives that aim to improve the livelihoods of local communities.
“It is not yet time to engage in premature and useless politics. Those who are enticing us to politick now are our enemies who don’t mean well for us. We must refuse their invitation because we have a lot to deliver including ensuring roads, electricity, markets projects are completed on time,” the DP stated.

Speaking on Saturday at the Maara Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement in Chogoria, he dismissed calls to engage in politics without a clear agenda. However, he assured residents that when the political season arrives, the team will compete strongly.
“We have no time for politics. This is the time to build our country. But when the time comes for politics, we are unmatched experts and we will deliver an unparalleled competition,” he emphasized.
Prof. Kindiki outlined several projects either underway or planned in the county. Roads that had stalled, such as Chogoria-Weru and Keria-Kathwana, have resumed construction. New routes being developed include Katharaka-Kanoro and Mitheru-Kamashuku.
“I will make sure all these roads are completed without further delays. As the Deputy President, I take full responsibility on their delivery and on the completion of all other projects in Tharaka-Nithi,” he promised.
He confirmed that work on the multi-billion-shilling Nithi Bridge has begun, with Sh8 billion allocated for its rebuilding. The bridge, blamed for multiple accidents over the years, will be redesigned and reconstructed under President Ruto’s administration.
“We already have the money for the reconstruction of Nithi Bridge. We will build and complete it and the President will be here to launch it," the DP said.
“No one told Moi one term, no one told Kibaki one term, no one told Uhuru one term yet all of them failed to rebuild Nithi Bridge but Ruto is doing it but we are now told he should serve for one term. It won’t happen. He will serve for two terms and will complete the Nithi bridge to save our people from more deadly crashes.”

Kindiki also reported that electricity access in the county has been expanded, with funds increasing from Sh400 million to Sh1.2 billion this financial year.
Chogoria Modern Market is almost complete, and additional markets are planned in each of the county’s three constituencies: Maara, Tharaka, and Chuka-Igambang’ombe.
“We have no reason not to deliver development to the people of Tharaka Nithi. We will work with all the leaders in the County to complete ongoing projects as well as pushing for more because we have no reason not to deliver them,” he noted.
