Day six of the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, Thursday 18 September 2025, will feature four finals, including the men's javelin throw, where Kenya's Julius Yego will compete for a chance to win an elusive Gold Medal.
The Men's and Women's 400 metres finals as well as the Triple Jump for women, will be the other finals on the line-up.
Yego qualified for the final on Wednesday, following a second-place finish in group B of the heats. His throw of 85.96, his season's best distance achieved, was the second longest, behind Anderson Peters of Grenada, who managed 89.53, also a season's best distance.
Defending Olympic Games champions Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan was third with a combined throw of 85.28.
In the final, Yego will face stiff competition if he is to make the Gold or even a podium finish, considering that out of the starting list, five of the men have bested him distance-wise in the last 24 months.
Defending World Champions India's Neeraj Chopra will also be in the starting lineup. The final will begin at 1.23 PM Kenyan time.
Elsewhere in the women's 5000 metres, the heats will take place on Thursday afternoon from 1.35 PM. The battlefront will be set as a world-class affair beckons ahead of the final set for Friday.
Heat 1 will see Beatrice Chebet, the Olympic champion and world record holder, battle it out with several other athletes to book a place in the final. Kenya's Margaret Akidor will also compete in the heat.
Heat 2 will see 1500 metre champion Faith Kipyegon battle it out with Agnes Jebet and others for a place in the final. It promises to be a blockbuster race.
In the 800 metre heats, Kenya's medal hope Mary Moraa will be at the battlefront in heat 2. They take off at 2.28 PM local time. Sarah Moraa will be in heat 4, while Lilian Odira will represent Kenya in heat 5.
