Kenya, Puerto Rico and Spain, along with Syria, will be making their international Baseball5 World Cup debuts while Lithuania and Venezuela are participating in the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup for the first time having played in both editions of the "open" World Cup.

Kenya's team has arrived safely in Mexico, North America, to take part in the 2025 Baseball5 Youth World Cup set to take place beginning today, Wednesday 24 September 2025.

The second WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup will start in Tepic, Mexico on Wednesday with 14 teams battling it out for four days of exhilarating Baseball5 action in store with the tournament featuring an increased number of participating teams and a new competition format.

The 2025 line-up features a record 14 teams, representing the rapid global growth of Baseball5 and builds on the success of the inaugural event in 2023.

Cuba return as defending champions after sweeping the first Youth Baseball5 World Cup in Ankara, Turkey, with a flawless 9-0 record, defeating France in the Championship game. Mexico overcame the hosts to secure bronze.

Seven teams qualified through continental championships: Japan, Chinese Taipei and Korea advanced as the top three teams at the II Youth Baseball5 Asia Cup; Lithuania, Türkiye and France progressed from the U-18 Baseball5 European Championship; while Kenya clinched their spot at the Youth Baseball5 African Championship.

Venezuela and Puerto Rico will represent the Americas alongside Cuba and host nation Mexico while Tunisia and Spain received wild cards, Tunisia finished third in Africa while Spain placed fourth in Europe.

Group A brings together world No. 5 Tunisia, hosts Mexico, Lithuania and Syria. Group B features top-ranked Cuba, Korea, Kenya and Spain. Group C includes Japan, Venezuela and Türkiye while Group D matches France, Chinese Taipei and Puerto Rico.

Kenya's team arrived safely in Mexico and is hopeful of a great performance at their first attempt.

"This is history in the making. To see the Kenyan flag flying at this level, for the first time in a global youth Baseball5 event, is a moment of pride. All these young athletes are trailblazers, and they carry with them the dreams of our nation", Titus Mutwiri, President of the Baseball Federation of Kenya, said in a statement upon arrival in Mexico.

Kenya’s journey at the global event begins with a tough opener against top-seeded Cuba.  The team will then face off against South Korea, before rounding out their group stage matches with a crucial game against Spain.
