Shabana claimed their second straight win of the season with a hard fought 1-0 success over Bandari FC in Mombasa, as week two of the top tier Kenyan Premier League, now renamed the Sportpesa League shifted gears Sunday, at two separate venues across the country.

At the Gusii Stadium hundreds of kilometres away, meanwhile, APS Bomet lost their second match of the season, going down 2-0 to the visiting Murang'a Seal FC.

At the Mbaraki Stadium in the coastal city of Mombasa, Harambee Stars forward Brian Michira, who has had a splendid start to the season, scored the lone goal as the men from Kisii, who are bidding to be a strong part of the KPL title race this term.

Michira struck on 63 minutes, following a smart move and cross by Brian Nsubuga, Michira did well to rifle home his third goal of this season, having also scored twice in their first game last week, a 4-2 success over the seemingly hapless Bomet.

Shabana, who who were made to work hard this afternoon, however held on, to join Posta Rangers as one of two sides to secure six points from their opening two matches.

Bandari on the other hand, have a point.

Meanwhile at Gusii Stadium, Bomet defender Joel Masibo unfortunately opened the scoring for the away side with an own goal, when he headed home past his own goalkeeper on 15 minutes to hand the travelling Seal a much needed lead. Bomet upped the pace of the game and could have got something on the board but for wayward finishing.

Their second goal came courtesy of Lewis Wanjala on 92 minutes, leading Seal players and the technical bench to break into song and dance, leaving Bomet players on their knees. The result leaves Seal with three points, while Bomet have nothing after two games played.
