From branches to online: Premier Bank simplifies banking for Kenyans

Through this dual approach of physical presence and digital access, Premier Bank is positioning itself as a modern, accessible, and efficient banking option for Kenyans
Premier Bank is repositioning itself as a modern, digital-first bank while maintaining its ethical Sharia-compliant roots.
Speaking to Radio Generation, Joseph Irungu, Head of Digital Innovation & Payments, and Yahya Dahir, Head of Business at Premier Bank, explained how the bank is evolving to meet the growing digital demands of customers across the country.
Irungu on Tuesday explained the bank’s digital vision.
“The reason why you are seeing us much more and much more amplified is because we have begun our journey of transforming the way banking is done. We want to be truly a digital bank,” he said.
“We are disrupting the old, traditional model into a new, versatile model that is aligned to the day’s needs of our customers and of our generation. You know, as the world is more digital and more technology-driven, even banking cannot be left behind. True. We are telling our people we’re here for you. We walk this journey with you. We’ll innovate for you, and we will let you enjoy the best of innovations,” Irungu added.
The bank, which is fully Sharia-compliant, has rapidly expanded its operations.
“For the last two years, this bank has evolved itself as the premier ethical digital bank. And that is why we are here today to tell people that banking is not complex, and we are here to break that complexity, make it very efficient and seamless for you to be able to do your banking business,” Dahir noted.
Premier Bank currently operates over 20 branches in nine counties. In Nairobi alone, there are nine branches, including locations at Kilimani’s Lenana Road headquarters, GTC, the CBD, Jamia mosque area, South C, and Imara Mall along Mombasa Road, among others.
Outside Nairobi, the bank is present in Kisumu, Nakuru, Isiolo, Mombasa, Kilifi, Marsabit, and Wajir.
Additionally, Premier Bank has two branches in the Eastleigh area.
Dahir emphasized that customers can also access services digitally.
“As much as you will find the four walls of a bank, yes, in a branch, in any of our branches, you will also find us online and you don’t have to set foot in any of our branches to get your banking services," he said.
Through this dual approach of physical presence and digital access, Premier Bank is positioning itself as a modern, accessible, and efficient banking option for Kenyans, combining ethical values with technological innovation
