Reality TV star James Argent has been given a six-month suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to a domestic violence offence against his girlfriend, former Miss Sweden Nicoline Artursson.

The incident occurred on May 5 in Mijas, near Málaga, Spain, where the couple had been on holiday.

According to reports, an argument between the pair escalated outside Artursson’s apartment, leading to Argent pushing her down a flight of stairs.

Distressed neighbors heard Artursson’s screams and alerted authorities. She was treated in the hospital for her injuries.

Argent, known for his role on The Only Way is Essex, was arrested at the scene and appeared before the Court of Violence Against Women in Fuengirola the same day. He admitted to the assault and was immediately sentenced.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Argent was issued a two-year restraining order banning any contact with Artursson.

He was also ordered to attend a gender violence rehabilitation course. The court made it clear that if he breaches any of these conditions, the prison term could be activated.

The couple had reportedly been in a relationship for nearly a year before the incident. Artursson has not commented publicly and is believed to have stayed in Spain following the assault.

Argent, 37, has previously opened up about his struggles with addiction and mental health. Following the court’s decision, he expressed remorse over the incident, claiming he had not intended to cause harm.

The case has reignited conversations around domestic violence and the accountability of public figures, emphasizing the importance of strong legal and social responses to gender-based abuse.
