The national rugby sevens women's team, The Kenya Lionesses have qualified for the play-offs of the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series in Los Angeles after posting winning returns in this weekend's trip to Poland where they are participating in the Sevens Challenger Series.

Kenya beat Colombia 12-7 and Belgium 12-0 but surprisingly lost 28-12 to Thailand in their second group game.

However, the two wins were enough to see them qualify for the last four and with it an opportunity to win all three legs after winning the first two in Cape Town South Africa.

They wound up their pool matches with a 12-7 win against Colombia to clinch a slot in Saturday’s semis where they take on South Africa at 2:30 pm local time.

Kenya leads the Challenger Series with 40 points, while South Africa and Argentina are placed second and third with 36 and 32 points, respectively.

The fourth spot is a contest between Thailand and Colombia.

Top four teams from the ongoing leg in Poland will qualify for the play off of the series scheduled May 3 and 4 in Los Angeles.
