Fire razes dormitory at Embakasi Girls’ Secondary School

A fire incident was reported at Embakasi Girls Secondary School in Mukuru, where one of the dormitories was engulfed in flames, triggering a rapid emergency response.

Efforts to extinguish the fire were still underway at the time of reporting.
The Kenya Red Cross confirmed the incident in a public statement released on July 6, stating: "A fire has broken out at Embakasi Girls in Mukuru, affecting one of the dormitories. Firefighting efforts are currently underway."
As of now, no injuries or fatalities have been reported, though the full extent of the destruction is yet to be established. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
Authorities have not disclosed how many students were impacted or whether temporary shelter arrangements have been made.
Embakasi Girls Secondary School is a county-level institution located in Makadara, Nairobi County.
