Ahmed Farah, the Chief Executive Officer of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), has announced his departure from the organization after serving for barely six months.

In a statement on his X account, Farah said the departure takes effect from Friday, 18 April 2025.

"It has been an honour to serve in this role and to contribute to the advancement of the Chamber's strategic mandate. Over the course of my tenure, I have been privileged to work alongside a highly committed team, valued partners, and a broad network of stakeholders, all dedicated to enhancing Kenya's business landscape," said Farah.

Farah, in the statement, appeared to point to a possible rift between himself and KNCCI's Board as the reason for his departure.

"As with many leadership journeys, moments of divergence can shape the way forward. In this case, differing perspectives between myself and the Board of Directors have brought my tenure to a close," he said.

"I remain optimistic in the Chamber's potential in promoting a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive economy. With capable leadership and sustained collaboration, I am certain the institution will build upon its solid foundation and continue to deliver meaningful impact for the business community in the country."

He, however, expressed gratitude at having worked at the Chamber over the short stint.

"I extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to all who supported me during my time at the Chamber. Your confidence and partnership have been instrumental and deeply appreciated," said Farah.

Before assuming the KNCCI CEO role, Farah served as the country director for TradeMark Africa.

Over the years, he has pioneered initiatives under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework, focusing primarily on women and youth entrepreneurs.

He also served on the presidential think tank focused on rebuilding Kenya's economy during the post-COVID era.

Farah's exit comes barely a few weeks after KNCCI hosted the World Chamber Federation (WCF) summit in Nairobi.
