Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has made it clear that his primary role is to support and defend President William Ruto, dismissing any attempts to push him into opposing the Head of State.

Speaking in Ngarachi, Laikipia County in Tuesday, Kindiki revealed that unnamed individuals have been trying to convince him to go against the President.

However, he said he remains committed to working with Ruto to fulfill the government’s development agenda.

“Some people are advising me to fight the President. My job is to support the President, to defend him, to work under him with my colleagues to make sure we follow through the President’s promises and deliver development to the people of Kenya,” Kindiki said.

The Deputy President assured Ruto of his unwavering support, emphasizing that he would stand firm against any external pressure.

“I assure you I will be a steady assistant, a steady deputy, right behind you firmly and together with my colleagues, we are going to deliver Kenya to the Promised Land under your leadership,” he said.

He added that he and other government officials, including Cabinet Secretaries and elected leaders, are focused on serving Kenyans rather than engaging in unnecessary political fights.

“I assure you, Mr President, that together with the CSs, PSs, and all government officers and elected members of our coalition, we will not waste time trying to argue and fight with the people who have no agenda for the country. We will not waste time fighting with people who can’t tell what they have done for the people,” Kindiki stated.

The remarks came as Ruto and Kindiki embarked on a weeklong tour of the Mt. Kenya region, beginning with various engagements in Laikipia County.
