CS Miano forms expert team to revamp Kenya’s tourism brand

The new taskforce will work to modernize the iconic ‘Magical Kenya’ brand and position the country as a world-class, youth-friendly destination
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has assembled a team of experienced marketing leaders to lead a fresh push in rebranding Kenya’s tourism image.
The new taskforce will work to modernize the iconic ‘Magical Kenya’ brand and position the country as a world-class, youth-friendly destination that embraces innovation, sustainability, and digital marketing.
The 23-member taskforce will be chaired by Mary-Ann Musangi, Managing Director of HACO Industries, with Monali Shah serving as vice-chair. Grace Wangui Kamau and Fatuma Huka have been named joint secretaries.
Other notable members include Kenya Tourism Board CEO June Chepkemei, hotelier Mohammed Hersi, creative director Fakii Liwali, Nation Media Group Head of Broadcasting Simaloi Dajom, and Serah Katusya, CEO of Belva Digital.
Additional members bringing diverse industry perspectives include Isabelle Rostom, Carolyne Kendi, Zizwe Awour, Nelly Wainaina, Maurice Juma, Timothy Birir, Rosalind Gichuru, Mike Njogu, Yvonne Ogwang, John Waigi, Yvonne Tharao, Stephen Kinyanjui, and Harrison Pemba Taga.
According to a gazette notice published on August 15, 2025, the taskforce will spend the next 12 months assessing how Kenya is perceived internationally, comparing it to leading tourist destinations, and developing a modern marketing strategy aligned with national development goals like Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
The group will report directly to CS Miano and is expected to submit a detailed plan with practical recommendations and an implementation roadmap within the year.
