The suspects are believed to have been part of a wider network involved in the illegal activity.

Two individuals, a Kenyan and a Somali national, appeared before the Makadara Law Courts on Wednesday to answer charges related to human trafficking.

The suspects are believed to have been part of a wider network involved in the illegal activity.

The accused, identified as Jaafer Rahow Salat and Fitsu Haile Michael, allegedly conspired with other unknown individuals to carry out the offence within Nairobi County.

The alleged crimes are said to have occurred between January 16 and January 27, 2025.

Authorities claim the pair were involved in trafficking persons, a serious offence under Kenyan law.

Investigators also allege that the suspects used false identities by misrepresenting themselves as rightful holders of certain national identity cards.

The case has drawn attention due to the cross-border nature of the suspects and the implication of a larger syndicate.

The court proceedings are ongoing as investigations continue to uncover the full scope of the alleged trafficking operation.

The court was informed that the accused were involved in trafficking four Somali nationals—including two minors aged 14 and 17, as well as an adult identified as Said Adhow Abdi—from Nairobi to the Busia border.

They allegedly used deceitful means to facilitate the transportation with the intent of exploiting the victims.

The accused denied the charges when they appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Joseph Karanja.

The case is scheduled for mention on May 6, 2025.
