Edgar Charles Frederick, the 79-year-old British citizen who was struck by a vehicle in President William Ruto’s motorcade succumbed due to multiple injuries, an autopsy now confirms.

The autopsy carried out at Lee Funeral Home in the presence of his family members living in Kenya, revealed the deceased had suffered severe trauma following the accident that occurred on Thursday along Ngong Road in Nairobi.

According to the pathologist's report, Frederick's ribs were shattered and his head and chest were completely crushed

He had been visiting Nairobi to spend time with his sister and nephew. Witnesses reported that as he attempted to cross the road, he appeared unaware of the warnings and directions from a traffic officer clearing the way for the convoy.

Police spokesman Michael Muchiri stated that the victim had traveled to Nairobi to visit his relatives, who reside in the city.

According to the police, the driver responsible for the hit-and-run accident is set to face legal action after investigations are concluded.

Authorities revealed that the vehicle involved in the incident belongs to the Nairobi Regional Commissioner’s office. The car has been identified and impounded as part of the ongoing probe, Muchiri confirmed.

"The driver of the government vehicle, which is attached to the Nairobi Regional Coordinator's office, has been released on cash bail and is awaiting court proceedings," he added.

Reports indicate that the vehicle was part of the presidential convoy, moving ahead at high speed when it struck and fatally injured the pedestrian, who was crossing at a zebra crossing, unaware of the approaching traffic.

Police further stated that the British High Commission in Nairobi had been notified of the incident.
