McOure condemned what he described as the opposition’s double standards and manipulative rhetoric.

Activist Kasmuel McOure has strongly criticised opposition leaders, accusing them of being insincere and prioritising personal interests over the needs of ordinary Kenyans.

During a Citizen TV interview on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, McOure condemned what he described as the opposition’s double standards and manipulative rhetoric aimed at misleading the public for political gain.

McOure took a swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, calling it contradictory for him to criticize President William Ruto’s administration while simultaneously pursuing legal action aimed at securing his return to the very government he condemns.

"It’s baffling," McOure said.

"Here’s someone who goes around rallying for Ruto’s removal, yet in court, he’s pushing for reinstatement into the same system he attacks. It’s a double standard."

He didn’t stop there—McOure also raised concerns about the credibility of several individuals positioning themselves for the presidency.

He questioned how those with questionable pasts, including involvement in public scandals, were now styling themselves as defenders of public interest.

"Some of the same people responsible for scandals like the fake fertiliser are now parading as the ‘loyal opposition.’ They’re not in it for the people," he argued.

Calling on the youth to play a more active role in shaping the country’s political future, McOure emphasized that real transformation would only come from issue-based politics, not personality cults.

"As young people, we must engage meaningfully. That doesn’t mean everyone needs to join the same movement. Find a platform that resonates with your values. But more importantly, let’s develop a solid agenda rooted in real issues. It’s not about who leads—it’s about what they deliver," he said.

He added that if meaningful progress like fighting corruption, enhancing devolution, and reforming the police can be achieved—even by a 60-year-old candidate—then the focus should be on competence, not age or political popularity.

McOure’s remarks come amid rising political tensions as several prominent figures declare their presidential ambitions.

Former Justice Minister Martha Karua has entered the race under the banner of her newly launched People’s Liberation Party (PLP), with a mission to unite opposition leaders and energize the youth around a progressive governance agenda.

Karua, who partnered with Raila Odinga as his running mate in the 2022 election, is championing transparency, accountability, and inclusive leadership.

Wiper Democratic Movement leader and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has officially declared his presidential bid.

He has been traversing the country, engaging with citizens and presenting himself as a champion of change amid rising public discontent with the current administration.

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has officially joined the race, pledging a grassroots-driven, independent campaign centered on economic and social reforms.

He has already put together a team to spearhead his transformation agenda.

In a surprising development, Rigathi Gachagua, who was impeached following a fallout with President Ruto, has surfaced as a possible candidate.

He is said to be in discussions with opposition figures such as Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka on the possibility of forming a united front.

Other notable presidential aspirants include Eugene Wamalwa of DAP-K, former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i—now spearheading Jubilee Party’s campaign—businessman Jimi Wanjigi of the Safina Party, and Ekuru Aukot of the Thirdway Alliance.
