The victim had walked from the bank to deliver the money to a forex bureau on Koinange Street when, around 9:47 am on Friday, he was confronted by the group.

Police are currently searching for a gang of approximately 12 individuals who ambushed and stole Sh7 million from a businessman shortly after he withdrew the cash from a bank on Nairobi's Mama Ngina Street.

The victim had walked from the bank to deliver the money to a forex bureau on Koinange Street when, around 9:47 am on Friday, he was confronted by the group.

It appears the gang had prior knowledge of his transaction, quickly springing into action, grabbing the money, and fleeing both on foot and in a waiting vehicle.

Security footage captured the dramatic scene, showing the assailants rushing towards the businessman to create chaos while one of them snatched the money and jumped into a van before speeding off.

Authorities suspect the gang trailed the businessman from the bank, as they seemed to be well-informed about the cash he was carrying.

The victim reported the robbery to the Central Police Station, triggering an investigation.

Despite his efforts to alert those nearby, some of the thieves managed to escape on foot after overpowering the victim in an alley.

Police have visited the scene and the bank as part of their investigation into the robbery.

This incident is the latest in a string of similar attacks in recent days, where individuals are targeted and robbed of large sums of money shortly after leaving banks.

Just last week, a man was robbed of Sh307,000 intended for construction workers in Kitengela by individuals posing as police officers.

Additionally, another man lost nearly Sh1 million in a similar daylight robbery in Machakos Town last week.

No arrests have been made in connection with these incidents.

The bank has not yet commented on the matter, with officials stating that the investigation is still ongoing.

Past investigations have suggested that these robberies may be connected to corrupt bank employees who leak information to criminals about customers' transactions.

Investigations have also pointed to the possibility of prior information being leaked from the clients' side, contributing to the attacks.

According to police, some criminals disguise themselves as customers within banks, carefully observing individuals who withdraw large sums of money, with the intention of targeting them once they leave the premises.
