132 senior police officers to be promoted

The ongoing interviews, which started on Tuesday and will conclude on Thursday.
A minimum of 132 senior police officers are set for promotion to higher ranks following successful interviews conducted by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).
The ongoing interviews, which started on Tuesday and will conclude on Thursday, aim to promote officers from the rank of Chief Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police.
According to NPSC Chief Executive Officer Peter Leley, the senior officers being interviewed have already completed promotional courses at the Kiganjo and Emali police colleges.
The Commission announced plans to curb bribery and corruption in the recruitment process by leveraging technology.
According to Leley, applicants will submit their credentials via digitised platforms, reducing opportunities for malpractice.
He added that the recruitment exercise, set to begin once Parliament allocates funds, will minimise face-to-face interactions. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for physical vetting and other necessary procedures.
