The attack took place at Hamburg Central Station around 6:00 pm local time (5:00 pm BST) on Friday.
A Hamburg fire department spokesperson told AFP that several of the injured suffered life-threatening wounds.
In a statement posted on X, Hamburg Police confirmed that an individual had reportedly attacked multiple people with a knife inside the main station.
Local reports indicate the attack took place near platforms 13 and 14, areas accessible via a busy main road, while a train was stationed there.
Some victims received medical treatment inside the trains, according to the media.
Photos from the scene show numerous emergency responders and vehicles, with barriers set up to shield the injured from public view.
One image circulating on local media shows a man being carried away on a stretcher by paramedics.
Hamburg Central Station is among Germany’s busiest transport hubs, serving over 550,000 passengers daily and often crowded during Friday evening rush hour.
The suspect was arrested by police.
