New appointments as Cabinet Secretaries restructure key Boards and Agencies

Several Cabinet Secretaries have announced fresh appointments to key state agencies and boards, in a move aimed at enhancing operations across various ministries.

The appointments, released through a gazette notice dated Friday, May 23, bring in new faces expected to steer critical reforms and development within the public sector.

In the latest reshuffle, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi named Monique Mukayagi to the board of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis for a three-year term.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen appointed Meldah Abenyo as a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances analyst. Meldah is expected to begin her role on May 23.

Meanwhile, Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya named Simon Mwachia to the board of directors of Kenya Shipyards Limited.

His appointment also takes effect from May 23, and will run for three years.

At the Ministry of Agriculture, Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe made a series of appointments to strengthen institutions within the sector.

Kenneth Mburu, Joshua Koskei, Joyce Kioko, and Bernard Wakhungu were appointed to the board of the Agricultural Finance Corporation.

Paul Kaguamba and Milton Luchiri were appointed to the board of directors of the Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya.

Kagwe also named July Ngene to the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation board, and reappointed Hassan Mohammed. All appointments are set for a three-year term.

Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho appointed Ruth Mumo to the Geologists Registration Board, while revoking the appointment of Florence Tanui. Ruth’s term also begins on May 23 and will last three years.

In the energy sector, Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi announced two key appointments.

Former Ugenya MP Christopher Odhiambo joined the board of the Kenya Pipeline Company, while Charles Owino was appointed to the board of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation.

Both appointments are for a three-year term.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba appointed Edward Musebe to the Board of Trustees of the Commodities Fund.

His appointment is effective immediately and will last three years.
