Zubeida Kananu of Standard Media Group has been reelected as the President of the Kenya Editors Guild following closely contested virtual election held on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Kananu secured 72 votes, edging out Citizen TV's Yvonne Okwara, who garnered 58.

She will serve alongside Francis Openda, who was elected Vice President.

Other elected officials include Agnes Mwangangi (Radio), Julius Bosireb (Academia), Mildred Awuor (Television), Linda Bach (Print) and Kenfrey Kiberenge (Online/Digital)

Martin Masai, Ruth Nesoba and Mbugua Nganga were elected as trustees in the just concluded Kenya Editors Guid elections.

The polls, initially set for April 12,2025 during the Guild's Annual General Meeting, were postponed after failing to meet the required quorum.
