Amisi questioned how Kibet, despite not holding any formal government office, continues to take center stage at public gatherings.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has voiced his unease over the growing political influence of Farouk Kibet, a key associate of President William Ruto, especially regarding his repeated role as chief guest at fundraising events in Western Kenya.

In a pointed statement posted on his X account on Sunday, May 25, 2025, Amisi questioned how Kibet, despite not holding any formal government office, continues to take center stage at public gatherings, sidelining elected leaders from the region.

"A private PA without a public portfolio is the chief guest in all Western Region harambees. Leaving our very own Dr Wycliffe Oparanya, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetang’ula and ministers on an international observer mission; the senator and governor as escorts and MPs as eyewitnesses," Amisi wrote.

The ODM legislator linked Farouk Kibet’s high profile at these functions to the substantial amounts of money he hands out, casting doubt on the origin of the funds and their potential political motives.

"He appears to command attention simply because he brings more money," Amisi remarked.

Amisi seized the moment to decry what he termed the ongoing marginalization of Western Kenya, painting a picture of a region that remains politically sidelined and economically forgotten.

"It reflects the grim reality of Western Kenya, a region that is disenfranchised, desperate, impoverished, voiceless, and broke. But this, too, shall pass," he declared.

While conceding that locals may welcome financial handouts at such events, Amisi maintained that this would not guarantee political loyalty to those aligned with the current administration.

"Western will gladly take the money without hesitation, but come election time, only black smoke will rise in the direction of Sugoi," he said, in reference to President Ruto’s rural home in Uasin Gishu County.

Amisi’s comments come at a time when Farouk Kibet’s behind-the-scenes political influence is once again under the spotlight, especially regarding his involvement in building alliances with Western Kenya leaders ahead of the 2022 General Election.

Speaking during an interdenominational prayer service in Bungoma on August 27, 2023, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula acknowledged Kibet’s key role in facilitating a deal between President Ruto and regional political figures.
