Kirinyaga thieves break into church, consume altar wine

Authorities have opened an investigation after a church in Kirinyaga was broken into.
During the incident, the thieves consumed altar wine and sacramental bread before stealing church belongings.
The community is still reeling from shock after the break-in at ACK St. Matthew’s Mutithi Church.
Church vice chairman Eliud Githaka said the incident came to light when choir members noticed the keyboard was missing and raised the alarm.
The church's night guard came under criticism for allegedly sleeping while on duty, as the robbery occurred during his shift.
"He wasn’t aware the church had been broken into. We believe he was asleep at the time," some residents claimed.
Police officers visited the scene on Monday night and assured the congregation that investigations are underway.
Church leaders stated they are now considering hiring their own security personnel rather than depending on the current guard.
