A man has been taken into custody in connection with the death of his girlfriend at their residence in Githurai 44, Nairobi.

According to reports, the suspect is said to have rushed the woman to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead while receiving treatment after the incident on Tuesday, May 27.

Police have launched investigations after a woman, identified as Josephine Wanjala, was found dead with a head injury at her home in Githurai 44, Nairobi.

Authorities said a blood-stained hammer and iron bar, suspected to have been used in the attack, were recovered from the house.

Nairobi police commander George Sedah reported that the suspect had taken the woman to a local hospital, claiming she had been hurt during a domestic altercation.

However, she died while undergoing treatment, prompting the hospital to alert police.

Officers noted that blood was seen coming from the victim’s nose and ears. The suspect later guided detectives to their residence, where a pool of blood was found near the bed.

Police also recovered a blood-stained bed and beddings, alongside the suspected murder weapons.

The body was taken to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination as the suspect remains in custody pending further investigation.

In a separate incident in Kariobangi, Nairobi, another man was killed during a dispute over control of a water vending point.

Elvis Owino Oloo, 27, died after sustaining serious injuries during a confrontation with a group over the control of a water vending shed in Kariobangi, Nairobi.

Police confirmed that the attacker fled the scene, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the suspect. The body was moved to the mortuary as investigations and an autopsy are conducted.
