Kenya’s Muslim community has successfully raised Sh5.4 million to support food relief efforts for starving residents of Gaza during Eid-ul-Adha, as part of the Gaza-Udhiya Program 2025.

Led by Voice of Palestine a coalition comprising groups such as the Jamia Mosque Committee, the Supreme Council of Kenyan Muslims, the National Muslim Leaders Forum, and the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya the project involves slaughtering cattle in Egypt.

The meat will then be frozen and transported to Gaza once humanitarian corridors are opened.

Ahmed Shariff, Chairperson of Voice of Palestine, emphasized that the effort goes beyond just providing food.

"This is a stand against genocide and injustice," he said.

The campaign addresses what religious leaders have called a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where over 52,000 people have lost their lives, thousands remain missing, and more than 2 million have been displaced.

The coalition has urged for an immediate ceasefire, the establishment of humanitarian corridors, and a more assertive diplomatic response from Kenya regarding the crisis.

Leaders called on President William Ruto and Parliament to amplify Kenya’s advocacy for justice and human rights.

Beyond the financial support, this initiative sends a powerful national message of compassion and peace.

The consortium has invited all Kenyans, regardless of their faith, to stand in solidarity with Gaza.

As Eid-ul-Adha nears, the Gaza-Udhiya Program underscores the impact of faith-driven humanitarian efforts in fostering global unity, empathy, and hope.
