The national registration portal opened recently and will remain active for 10 days, allowing youth from all 47 counties to apply.

Youth across Kenya are now able to register for the Climate Resilience Service Program, known as Climate WorX, which aims to employ over 113,000 young people in public service projects over the next six months.

The national registration portal opened recently and will remain active for 10 days, allowing youth from all 47 counties to apply.

According to Charles Hinga, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, the program was announced by President William Ruto on Madaraka Day and seeks to build sustainable, climate-resilient communities through labour-intensive public works.

"The programme has a focus on three key areas: roads and infrastructure, environmental conservation and housing and urban development," he said.

The youth will receive a daily wage of Sh500, while supervisors earn Sh550, with payments done via mobile money. Participants will be grouped into community clusters and will work alternating two-week shifts for six months.

The work will involve constructing roads, expanding and clearing drainage systems, and building footpaths and pavings around public facilities such as schools, hospitals, and markets.

Additionally, the program will provide training on life skills and workplace readiness to help participants find long-term employment, continue their education, or start businesses.

The program prioritizes inclusion by focusing on gender balance and encouraging participation from youth in informal settlements and those with disabilities.

Applicants must be aged between 18 and 35 years, hold a valid national ID, and register a Safaricom line with mobile money.

Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo from the Ministry of Interior and National Administration stated, "they are looking at particularly the youth and with a 50-50 balance between the two genders, that is a male and female."

Interested youth are urged to apply before the portal closes on June 15 via https://www.crsp.go.ke.
