Samidoh goes AWOL: Police cut salary, order arrest

According to a memo dated June 9, 2025, the officer was due to resume work on May 27 but has not reported back, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
The National Police Service has declared Constable Samuel Ndirangu Muchoki, known to many as Samidoh, a deserter after he failed to return to duty from official off-time.
According to a memo dated June 9, 2025, the officer was due to resume work on May 27 but has not reported back, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
"The officer was granted an off-duty and was supposed to report back on May 27, 2025, but he failed. Since then, he has not been seen and his whereabouts are not known,” the memo reads.
Samidoh, who is attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (MTD Company), has not communicated with his unit since his leave ended.
The internal notice, issued from Stockpol Gilgil, was sent to top police offices, including Vigilance House, Central Records Office, Nairobi and all Station Police Commanders across the country.
His absence has been classified as desertion, effective from June 6, after being away without permission for over ten days.
The memo directed the Pay Section to stop his salary immediately and instructed Stockpol MTD to begin disciplinary action.
The Central Records Office has also been told to list his desertion in the upcoming National Police Gazette.
Police have now directed the Station Police Commander in Gatumbiro to visit his home and arrest him if found there.
While Samidoh has not publicly explained his absence, he has remained active on social media. His Instagram page showed a post made two hours before 8:36 am on June 10, 2025.
