Wajir County’s Eldas Sub-County Hospital has successfully performed its first-ever Cesarean Section (C-section), marking a historic milestone for maternal and child healthcare in our community.

According to Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, who's also the Council of Governors chair, the achievement brings life-saving care closer to home, ensuring expectant mothers no longer face long, risky referrals for emergency surgical care and a bold step toward reducing maternal mortality across the county.

"I am incredibly proud of Dr. Mohamed Kheir Yussuf, our new Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Mandeq Adow, who skillfully led this procedure," said the governor.

“My heartfelt gratitude extends to them and the entire healthcare team at Eldas Sub-County Hospital for their unwavering dedication to making this vision a reality.”

The county boss added that Eldas hospital stands as a "beacon of progress, hope and accessible healthcare for all".

He further committed to strengthening healthcare across the county.

"This is just the beginning; together, we will continue to elevate the standard of care for every family," said Abdullahi.

Meanwhile, the county has announced the acquisition of six new state-of-the-art dialysis machines, a move aimed at enhancing kidney care for residents

"These machines will enable patients to access vital treatment locally, eliminating the need for long-distance travel," explained Abdullahi.

"Installation is in progress, and our renal nurses will receive training this Friday and Saturday to prepare for service delivery. Operations are scheduled to commence on Monday, In Sha Allah."
