The decision, communicated by Assembly Clerk Salad Boru Guracha, follows a court directive halting the impeachment process.

The Isiolo County Assembly has called off a scheduled public participation forum on the impeachment of Governor Abdi Guyo.

The decision, communicated by Assembly Clerk Salad Boru Guracha, follows a court directive halting the impeachment process.

The Assembly had earlier issued a notice on June 14 inviting residents to take part in public consultations regarding the governor’s ouster.

“Pursuant to the court order referenced above, the Isiolo County Assembly has cancelled the Public Participation meetings that were to take place on June 18, 2025, across various Wards in the county,” the Clerk stated in a formal notice.

This development follows a ruling by the High Court in Isiolo, which temporarily blocked any move to impeach Governor Guyo until the pending legal challenge is heard and determined.

Presiding Judge Heston Nyaga said he had reviewed the application, the accompanying affidavit, and the petition and found that the applicant had presented a compelling case justifying interim relief.

He certified the matter as urgent and instructed that the application be served to all respondents no later than close of business on June 17, 2025.

A High Court in Isiolo has issued a conservatory order temporarily blocking any steps towards impeaching Governor Abdi Guyo, pending the outcome of an ongoing legal challenge.

The court order restrains the County Assembly and its agents from admitting, processing, debating, or in any way handling the impeachment motion dated June 10, 2025, which was slated for deliberation on June 17 or any other date.

Governor Guyo moved to court to challenge the impeachment attempt, naming the County Assembly and Speaker Mohamed Roba as respondents.

In the ruling, Justice Heston Nyaga also directed the third respondent to serve the governor with a copy of the impeachment notice and all supporting documentation within 48 hours of receiving the court order.

The respondents were given seven days to file their responses. The governor was allowed to file a supplementary affidavit within three days of being served with the responses.

The impeachment process had been initiated by Sericho MCA Abubakar Godana, who tabled the notice of motion accusing Governor Guyo of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and violating the Constitution and various laws.

The motion had received backing from all 18 MCAs, and Speaker Roba had announced plans for a public participation exercise ahead of the scheduled debate.

Governor Guyo had initially been given seven days to respond to the allegations.
