A 17-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of a three-year-old child in Menengai, Nakuru County.

The suspect, a minor, was apprehended following a disturbing report of a young child found unconscious near PCEA Shalom Mchanganyiko Church, approximately 50 meters from the scene.

Despite efforts to save her, the child was declared dead upon arrival at Kenlands Hospital.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect is believed to have lured the toddler away from the church to a hidden spot, where she allegedly strangled her using a piece of cloth.

Authorities are still working to determine the motive behind the gruesome act.

Following intelligence leads, police traced and arrested the suspect at her home in Judea Village, Menengai Sub-Location, Kiamaina Ward.

During the operation, officers recovered clothing worn during the crime, as well as the cloth reportedly used to kill the child items identified from CCTV footage.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is undergoing processing ahead of her arraignment.
