The NPS praised members of the public who maintained calm, saying, “We commend Kenyans for being law-abiding and heeding the call to maintain law and order.”
However, police noted that some individuals were determined to cause chaos, carrying out criminal acts that included attacking police officers and stealing from businesses and members of the public.
The service expressed its appreciation for the conduct of officers deployed during the unrest, saying they exercised patience and professionalism while being targeted by violent protestors.
“The NPS commends its officers for demonstrating exceptional restraint and professionalism in the face of sustained violence and provocation by criminals who infiltrated the protests,” the statement added.
Police urged members of the public with any information on suspects involved in criminal acts during the protests to report to the nearest station or call toll-free numbers 999, 911, 112 or contact #FichuakwaDCI at 0800 722 203.
