President William Ruto  join leaders from across Kenya’s political, judicial, and religious circles have expressed deep sorrow following the death of Chief Kadhi Sheikh Abdulhalim Hussein, who passed away on Wednesday in Mombasa.

Tributes have continued to pour in, celebrating the life of a respected scholar and judicial figure known for his humility, wisdom, and unwavering service to the Muslim community and the country.

In a statement shared by the Head of State, he described the custodian of the Islamic Sharia as a devoted man who gave his life to the service of humanity and led the Muslim faithful with unwavering dedication, humility, and wisdom.

Additionally, Ruto stated that Abdulhalim will be remembered for his great works as a scholar who was committed to justice.

''We join the Muslim community in mourning the passing of Chief Kadhi Sheikh Abdulhalim Hussein. Sheikh Abdulhalim devoted his life to the service of humanity and led the Muslim faithful with unwavering dedication, humility, and wisdom,'' Ruto stated.

Chief Justice Martha Koome described his death as a huge loss to both the Judiciary and the nation.

“It is with deep sorrow and sadness that I announce the passing of the Chief Kadhi of Kenya, Sheikh AbdulHalim Hussein,” she said.

“On behalf of the Judiciary of Kenya, the Judicial Service Commission, and on my own behalf, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Chief Kadhi, the Muslim community in Kenya, and all those whose lives he touched through his service and leadership.”

Koome praised Sheikh Abdulhalim’s character and contribution to justice.

“Sheikh AbdulHalim Hussein served the Judiciary and the people of Kenya with unwavering dedication, humility, and integrity. As Chief Kadhi, he was a champion of justice, fairness and equity, particularly in matters of personal law within the Muslim community.”

She added, “We remember and honour him as a deeply spiritual and principled leader who championed peaceful coexistence, respect for diversity, and harmony in our society. May Almighty Allah grant Sheikh AbdulHalim Hussein the highest place in Jannah and comfort his family and loved ones during this time of grief.”

Garissa Township MP Adan Keynan described the late Kadhi as a man of rare moral clarity.

“We have lost a gem, a scholar of high repute, a statesman of faith and a humble servant whose legacy will continue to shape generations,” he said.

“Sheikh AbdulHalim was a beacon of spiritual wisdom, a peacemaker in times of discord and a steadfast champion of justice and service to the people.”

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir also expressed his grief in a heartfelt message.

“I am extremely saddened by the passing of the Chief Kadhi of Kenya, Shk. Abdulhalim Hussein; indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return. With the grace of the Almighty, he served the Kenyan Ummah dedicatedly in many ways.”

Mvita MP Mohamed Soud Machele shared his sorrow and offered condolences on behalf of his constituents.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Sheikh Abdulhalim Athman Hussein, the Chief Kadhi of Kenya. On behalf of the people of Mvita Constituency, I extend my condolences to his family, friends, the Muslim Ummah and the judiciary of Kenya. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un.”

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga highlighted the Kadhi’s role in promoting inclusive justice and unity.

“Sheikh Abdulhalim championed unity, judicial reform, and equitable justice, particularly for women and children in Kadhi courts,” she said.

“I extend my deepest condolences to his family, the Muslim community, and all Kenyans. May his legacy of service, integrity, and bridge-building leadership endure. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka described the late Sheikh as a noble figure in Kenya’s judicial landscape.

“I extend my condolences to the family, the judiciary, Muslims and all Kenyans regarding the passing of our brother. May God Almighty give you comfort, patience and strength to bear this great loss,” he said.

UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar paid tribute to Sheikh Abdulhalim’s lifelong dedication to faith, justice, and unity.

“Sheikh Abdulhalim was a man of deep knowledge, humility and unwavering service to the Muslim Ummah and Kenyans at large,” he said.

“From humble beginnings in Malindi and Watamu, to graduating from Al-Azhar University in Egypt… Sheikh Abdulhalim's remarkable journey is one of purpose and impact.”

He added, “He will be remembered for championing the dignity of the Kadhi's office and uniting Muslims across Kenya. We will truly miss this remarkable servant of our society. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings. Ameen.”
