Sports CS Salim Mvurya appointed Joseph Maina Njogu to serve on the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya for a period of three years.

The government has made a raft of appointments and reappointments to state boards across various ministries, in what appears to be a coordinated push to enhance governance and continuity in public service institutions.

In a notice dated July 25, 2025, Salim Mvurya, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, appointed Joseph Maina Njogu to serve on the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya for a period of three years.

The appointment is expected to support ongoing anti-doping efforts in the country’s sports sector.

At the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo Gitau announced the re-appointment of Media Council of Kenya Chairperson Joseph Maina Muiruri, alongside members Susan Karago, Timothy Wanyonyi Chetambe and Tabitha Mutemi, for a three-year term.

The same ministry also declared four vacant positions on the Media Council and called on qualified individuals to apply through the selection panel.

“Applications shall be forwarded to the Selection Panel… within seven days of this publication,” the notice said.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale appointed Dr Dabar Abdi Maalim as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Nursing Council of Kenya.

The appointment, under section 4(1)(a) of the Nurses Act, is expected to bring fresh leadership to the council which regulates nurses and midwives across the country.

In the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, Lee Kinyanjui re-appointed Dorothy Chepkoech to the Board of the Export Processing Zones Authority.

She will continue serving on the board for another three-year term to help steer industrial and investment policy.

Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe appointed Jonah K. Marindich to the Board of the National Cereals and Produce Board, where he is expected to play a key role in improving food security and post-harvest management.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku named Brynes Mbogo as a Member of the National Youth Service Council for a three-year term to support youth empowerment programmes.

In the water sector, Cabinet Secretary Eric Muuga made two sets of re-appointments. Simon N. Nganga, Hassan Ahamednur Baricha, Jared Mekenye Ongwae, and Lydia Boke Marwa will continue serving on the Water Resources Authority.

In addition, the Water Sector Trust Fund retained Erick Rutto as Chairperson, alongside trustees Josephine Erigae, Lucas Chepkitony, Maryan Ubah Mohamed, Andrew Muiya Mbithi, and Eng. Joseph Kimani Ngacha.

All appointments take effect from July 25, 2025, and reflect a wide-ranging effort by the executive to maintain experienced leadership while opening up opportunities for new individuals in critical public institutions.
