Several Nairobi estates, institutions face water supply interruption

Areas affected include Lang’ata, Kibera, Kilimani, Lavington, Westlands, and Parklands.
Several estates and institutions in Nairobi County are experiencing disruption in water supply following technical challenges in the supply line.
The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) Managing Director, Nahashon Muguna, said in a notice that the outage has been caused by technical challenges along the Kabete–Kibera–Lang’ata water supply pipeline, which serves a wide section of Nairobi.
Areas affected include Lang’ata, Kibera, Kilimani, Lavington, Westlands, and Parklands.
Others are Riverside, Kileleshwa, and the University of Nairobi’s main and Chiromo campuses.
Estates along Ngong Road and Lang’ata Road, as well as those situated on Raila Odinga Road, including Madaraka, Nyayo Highrise, Nairobi West and Dam Estate, are also experiencing shortages.
The Nairobi Hospital and Kenyatta National Hospital are also affected.
NCWSC said technical teams are working round the clock to identify and resolve the fault on the pipeline.
The utility company urged residents to use their stored water sparingly during the outage period as it works to restore normal supply.
"Our technical staff are working round the clock to resolve the problem. We advise our customers to use their stored water sparingly. In the meantime, we have dispatched our water tankers to the affected estates, for residents to draw water free of charge," read the statement.
