Kenya Kwanza, ODM lawmakers pledge bipartisan cooperation for national unity

In a joint statement, the two parties said they will set aside differences and work together for Kenya’s progress
President William Ruto’s coalition, Kenya Kwanza, and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have taken a big step towards political cooperation, agreeing on key points to guide their work in Parliament and beyond.
The meeting, held in Nairobi on Monday, August 18, 2025, brought together members of both sides with a focus on putting the country’s interests above party politics.
In a joint statement, the two parties said they will set aside differences and work together for Kenya’s progress. “We are committed to national unity, peace, and stability.
We will prioritize the national interest above partisan politics,” the statement read.
The partnership is not just for Parliament; it will also extend to local county assemblies, ensuring collaboration reaches grassroots levels.
The meeting reaffirmed both sides’ dedication to implementing the 10-point Agenda, which they call the backbone of their legislative and development plans.
Key areas include economic growth, social justice, job creation, healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture, good governance, and empowering youth and women.
Both parties also pledged to continue the fight against corruption in all parts of government to protect the integrity of institutions.
On the legislative side, Kenya Kwanza and ODM members agreed to work together on bills and policies that affect the nation, guided by principles of transparency, accountability, and service to the people.
The partnership will also emphasize national dialogue and inclusivity, with both sides agreeing to give Kenya first priority.
The collaboration will include consultations between the two leaders, President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, to keep the country on a steady, progressive path.
The Joint Parliamentary Group will focus on policy, legislative, and administrative proposals, particularly those related to the Committee Overseeing Implementation of the NADCO Report and the 10-Point Agenda, which cover issues critical to Kenya’s growth beyond party lines.
